[ARCHIVED] Help Us Increase Pollinator Habitats in Linn County

We are very excited to announce a new program to help the Monarch Butterfly recovery and all pollinators in Linn County.

The Monarch Research Project is partnering with Linn County Engineering and Secondary Road Department/Roadside Vegetation Management’s Adopt a Roadway Program to sponsor a celebration/forum on July 22 at the Monarch Research Station, 4970 Lakeside Road, Marion, IA from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity to meet Roadside Adoption partners and to hear about successes and learning opportunities, and to then formally hear about a program to introduce easily planted sections of native plants and milkweed along adopted Rights of Way in Linn County.  Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

The Monarch Research Project was first conceived in 2015 as a way to focus exclusively in Linn County on bringing back the Monarch Butterfly populations to pre-crisis levels, to create 10,000 acres of new pollinator habitat by repurposing land currently mowed and/or sprayed, and to use our experiences to provide a model to other counties up and down the Eastern Monarch migratory corridor. We have made good progress to date, but we need your help to achieve our ‘moonshot’ goals!

Please RSVP to Jim Hoffman at [email protected] We would love to have you attend. If you are part of a group, just make sure to tell us how many from your group will be attending.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Together, let's literally change the landscape!
