[ARCHIVED] Caution Urged at Rural Intersections Due to Tall Crops

Rural intersection with corn crops

The Linn County Secondary Road Department reminds drivers to use extra caution on rural roads now that crops and vegetation have grown to heights that can reduce visibility and obstruct views. This is especially important at intersections, drives, near active farm operations and railroad crossings.

Drivers should obey stop signs and use caution when entering intersections. Drivers should treat uncontrolled intersections as if a stop is required. Do not enter an intersection until you are sure no vehicles are coming from the side roads. Do not cross railroad tracks until you are sure that trains are not present. Take the extra time to look for vehicles and trains. Be safe and watchful. Success is a safe trip.
