The U.S. Department of State announced passport fees will be increasing on April 2, 2018 and the Linn County Recorder’s Office wants you to be prepared.
U.S. citizens can save $10.00 if their applications are submitted to the Recorder’s Office before April 2, 2018. Currently, a passport book is $135.00, but starting April 2, 2018, the fee will be increased making the total fee for a passport book $145.00.
U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.
Passport applications are currently accepted at the Recorder’s Office without reservations. Applicants will need to bring a certified copy of their birth certificate or previous passport, one color passport photo (photos can be taken in the Recorder’s Office for $10.00) and a photo ID. The office hours are 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Questions can be handled by one of Linn County’s passport acceptance agents at 319-892-5420.
