LIFTS Provides Free Transportation for COVID-19 Vaccinations

Linn County LIFTS is providing free next-day rides for Linn County residents in need of transportation to scheduled and confirmed COVID-19 vaccination appointments, including vaccine boosters.

The Linn County Board of Supervisors wants to ensure no barriers, including lack of transportation, prevent someone from getting vaccinated. Anyone traveling to or from a Linn County vaccine provider is eligible for transportation for the purpose of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine or assisting someone who is receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Rides are only available to scheduled and confirmed vaccination appointments.

Requests for transportation must be made at least 24 hours in advance and can be made up to two weeks in advance. To request a ride to a vaccination site, County residents with scheduled and confirmed vaccination appointments should contact LIFTS by phone at 319-892-5170 or by e-mail between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to request next-day transportation.

Transportation is only offered to or from locations within Linn County to designated vaccination sites between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. No rides are available on Sundays.

Linn County residents with questions about the COVID-19 vaccine should contact Linn County Public Health by calling 319-892-6097 or visit LinnCountyIowa.gov/Vaccine.
