Buffalo Creek Park Campground Closed for the Season

Closed for the Season Sign. It additionally reads open April 15. Linn County Conservation

The Linn County Conservation Department has announced that Buffalo Creek Park campground near Coggon has closed for the remainder of the 2023 camping season. “There has been significantly lower camper usage in Buffalo Creek Park this year, most likely attributed to the ongoing construction involved with the adjacent campground expansion project,” said Ryan Schlader, Linn County Conservation Community Outreach Specialist. “The decision to close will also improve efficiency and safety near the construction site.”

19 additional campsites will be added from the current 13 at Buffalo Creek Park, with an added shower house and restroom facility. A new playground and reservable open-aired shelter for the park are part of the renovations.

Linn County Conservation manages modern campgrounds at Wanatee Park near Marion, Morgan Creek Park west of Cedar Rapids, and Pinicon Ridge Park near Central City. These campgrounds are typically open April 15 – October 15.  Information about these and other primitive camping opportunities can be found on the Linn County Conservation camping webpage at LinnCountyIowa.gov/Conservation.
