COVID-19 Vaccine Information Linn County continues to vaccinate people in Phase 1A and is preparing for Phase 1B, which will begin Feb. 1. In Linn County, individuals 65 years and older became eligible for vaccine beginning Jan. 26. Linn County had approximately 800 doses of vaccine available to offer to persons 65 and older this week. Healthcare providers with vaccine began contacting eligible patients on January 25 to offer appointments, which filled quickly. However, vaccine remains in short supply. This means not everyone 65 and older or in Phase 1B will be able to get vaccine right away. It may take weeks to months for the Phase 1B populations and those age 65 and older to receive vaccine. The timeline will be determined by vaccine availability. While supply is limited, Linn County Public Health is following federal and state recommendations for tiered vaccine rollouts. Currently, there is no vaccine waiting list or registry for individuals to sign up for vaccine in Linn County.
Linn County Public Health will continue working with healthcare providers as well as local media to help residents know where and how to schedule a vaccine appointment as more information and more vaccine becomes available. Healthcare providers will also continue their outreach directly to eligible populations. Linn County Public Health will share updated information at LinnCounty.org/COVID-19, through COVID-19 Status Updates, and on Facebook and Twitter. More…

Linn County Public Health Updates Recommended Actions to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Due to improvement in COVID-19 metrics in our community, Linn County Public Health recommends moving to Tier 2 of the “Actions to Combat Increase in COVID-19.” These recommendations include:
- In general, limit interaction with non-household members, and limit out of state travel
- Limit indoor and outdoor gatherings to 25 or less, or 25% of room capacity, whichever is fewer
- For bars and restaurants, limit seating capacity to 50%
- Do not allow seating/congregating or ordering at the bar, and do not seat multiple parties together
- For businesses, promote telework for as many workers as possible
- For retail businesses, limit groups to household members only, and provide personal services by appointment only
Even as vaccine becomes available to additional populations, and some metrics are improving locally, it is important to continue practicing COVID-19 mitigation strategies to prevent spread of the virus: maintain social distance, wear a mask (even after being vaccinated), and wash hands frequently.
