April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Linn County Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC) is spreading the word about the importance of healthy family relationships to prevent child abuse and its negative long-term effects. Children and families are our greatest natural resource. We all have a stake in preparing children to grow up to be healthy and thriving members of our communities. Linn County Public Health Ends Reporting COVID-19 Metrics and Case Data Effective April 1, 2022, Linn County Public Health will end reporting COVID-19 metrics and case data at the county level on its website. The department will continue to report the community COVID-19 level as provided by the CDC and share links for resources on Linn County’s website. At this time, case data is still available on the Iowa Department of Public Health website.

Expungement Clinic and Resource Fair is April 30 The fourth Expungement Clinic and Resource Fair in Linn County with Iowa Legal Aid will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the IowaWORKS location in the lower level of Lindale Mall, 4444 1st Ave. NE #436, Cedar Rapids. The purpose of the expungement clinic and resource fair is to help people overcome barriers to housing, employment, and education and to learn about the various assistance programs and resources available throughout the community. Appointments are required for the expungement clinic. No appointments are necessary to attend the job and resource fair.

- Approved a resolution honoring the achievements and contributions of Ron Ziegler with the Hope Community Development Association (Hope CDA)
- Held a public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated total cost for the Priority #2 Linn County Facilities Derecho Repair Project
- Discussed and approved a resolution granting final approval and confirming the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated total cost for the Priority #2 Linn County Facilities Derecho Repair Project
- Approved a resolution awarding contract for the Priority #2 Linn County Facilities Derecho Repairs Project
- Authorized Chair to sign a Notice to Proceed directing the contractor to begin work on the Priority #2 Linn County Facilities Derecho Repairs Project
- Opened and announced bids for the Priority #1 Linn County Facilities Derecho Repair Project and referred bids to Linn County staff and the project architect for review and tabulation
- Authorized Chair to sign letter to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation in support of the Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization’s application for a Rebuilding of American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant
- Approved a resolution accepting work covering the Linn County Fillmore Building reroofing project
- Approved a resolution to award contract for project LOST-BEAR CREEK RD(22), grading & paving on Bear Creek Road from Benton County to Hollenbeck Road & on Hollenbeck Road from Bear Creek Road to Bridge #1920, to Rathje Construction, in the amount of $2,615,809.93
- Authorized Chair to sign a 2022 County Five Year Program Resolution 0.4 between Linn County and the Iowa Department of Transportation
- Authorized Chair to sign Shared Road Maintenance and Snow & Ice Control Agreements between Linn County and the City of Fairfax and between Linn County and the City of Lisbon
- Awarded bid and approved purchase order for a 2022 John Deere Motor Grader to Martin Equipment of IA-IL Inc. in the amount of $394,850 for the Secondary Road Department
- Awarded bid and approved purchase order for a 2022 John Deere Compact Track Loader to Martin Equipment of I-IL in the amount of $93,000 for the Secondary Road Department.
- Awarded bid and approved purchase order for a 2022 Freightliner Tandem Axle Truck to Truck Country in the amount of $314,378 for the Secondary Road Department
- Awarded bid and approved purchase order for linseed oil to Construction Materials, Inc. in the amount of $11,006.10 for the Secondary Road Department
- Received an update on the Make It OK pre-assessment employee survey results
