Deadline to Request Absentee Ballot has Passed – Early Voting Options Remain The deadline to request an absentee ballot to vote in the November 8, 2022, general election has passed. Dispose of Unwanted Medication During National Drug Take-Back Day Bring your unwanted, unused, and expired prescription medications to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of a nationwide prescription drug take-back initiative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This free, anonymous service helps to prevent drug abuse and unintentional overdose deaths and helps keep discarded drugs from contaminating landfills and the water supply. Can’t make it Saturday? The Linn County Sheriff's Office has a secure drug drop box in the parking lot of the Sheriff's Office at 310 2nd Ave. SW that is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Thank You First Responders October 28 of each year is designated as National First Responders Day. Thank you Linn County first responders, including law enforcement officers, EMS workers, and fire fighters for all that they do to help keep our community safe.

Campgrounds Closed for the Season Linn County Conservation's modern campgrounds are closed for the 2022 season. The closure includes the campgrounds at Morgan Creek Park, Pinicon Ridge Park, and Wanatee Park. The Matsell Bridge Natural Area primitive campgrounds, Wakpicada Natural Area, and the Wickiup Hill Pack-in Campsite are available for camping throughout the year. Linn County parks remain open year-round for recreation. Check out our website to learn ways to enjoy your Linn County parks through every season!

Board of Supervisors Meeting Recap The following is a recap from the Linn County Board of Supervisors meetings the week of October 21-28, 2022. The Board of Supervisors:
- Met with and received updates from the following departments: Community Services, Conservation, Information Technology, Public Health, Sustainability, and Veteran Affairs
- Held a monthly Countywide department head and elected officials meeting
- Held a public hearing to determine whether Linn County will convey to Heidi L. Sherman, whatever interest Linn County may have in vacated right-of-way along former alleys lying Lots 3 and 4, and Lots 1 and 2 of said Johnsons First Addition, Block 7
- Held a public hearing to determine whether Linn County will convey to Lonnie Oliphant, Zonna Bonar and Nina Williams, whatever interest Linn County may have in vacated right-of-way along former alley lying between Lots 7 and 8, Lots 5 and 6 of said Johnsons First Addition, Block 7
- Held a public hearing to determine whether Linn County will convey to Gary L. Holsinger, whatever interest Linn County may have in vacated right-of-way along former Second Street lying north of Lot 2 and north of the alley between Lot 1 and Lot 2 of said Johnsons First Addition, Block 7
- Approved a resolution for a Notice of Public Hearing on the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated total cost for the Linn County Secondary Road District 1 Shop Building – Phase 2 Project, and for taking of bids on said project
- Held a closed session to discuss pending litigation, pursuant to Code of Iowa 21.5(1)(c)
- Approved a vacancy form requesting to change a position from Secretary to a Senior Account Clerk for the Sheriff’s Office
- Approved a resolution suspending taxes for one (1) Linn County resident as they are unable to contribute to the public revenue by reason of age, infirmity or both, pursuant to Code of Iowa, Section 427.8
- Approved a resolution for a final plat for Ashbacher First Addition
- Approved a resolution for a final plat for Price’s North Linn Third Addition
- Approved a resolution authorizing conveyance to Heidi L. Sherman of Linn County, Iowa’s interest of vacated right-of-way along former alleys lying Lots 3 and 4, and Lots 1 and 2 of said Johnsons First Addition, Block 7
- Approved a resolution authorizing Chair to sign Quit Claim Deed conveying Linn County, Iowa’s interest to Heidi L. Sherman of the vacated right-of- way along former alleys lying Lots 3 and 4, and Lots 1 and 2 of said Johnsons First Addition, Block 7
- Approved a resolution authorizing conveyance to Lonnie Oliphant, Zonna Bonar and Nina Williams of Linn County, Iowa’s interest of vacated right-of-way along former alley lying between Lots 7 and 8, Lots 5 and 6 of said Johnsons First Addition, Block 7
