Nov. 8 General Election Information Tuesday, Nov. 8 is Election Day.
- Linn County voters still have a few early voting options.
- Due to redistricting in 2021, some Election Day polling places have changed. Find your Election Day polling location online.
- Polling places will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Absentee ballots must be delivered to the Auditor’s Office by 8 p.m. Nov. 8. There are several ways to return absentee ballots.

Board of Supervisors Pass Resolution Opposing Public Measure 1 in 2-1 Vote In a 2-1 vote, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution opposing Public Measure 1, which is on the Nov. 8, 2022, general election ballot as an amendment to Iowa’s constitution. Supervisors Rogers and Walker voted in favor of the resolution. Supervisor Zumbach voted against it. Watch the video of the Board of Supervisors meeting and listen to the discussion.

Linn County Now Accepting Witwer Trust Grant Applications The Linn County Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications for the fiscal year 2023 Witwer Trust Grant Program. Eligible non-profit organizations in Linn County may apply for grant funding for projects that benefit Linn County residents. The application deadline is December 9, 2022. October 2022 DEA Drug Take-Back Event Results The Linn County Sheriff’s Office collected 100 pounds of medications during the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) nationwide prescription drug “Take-Back” event on Oct. 29. The initiative seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft by providing a safe and anonymous way for residents to dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. If you were unable to participate in the event on Saturday, you can still drop off your unwanted, expired, and unused medications at the Linn County Sheriff’s Office at any time throughout the year by using the drug drop box located in the west parking lot at 310 2nd Ave. SW. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office collected 489 pounds of medication through the drug drop box in the last six months.

Wickiup Hill Learning Center Closed Sundays Wickiup Hill Learning Center has shifted to its winter hours, which means the building it is now closed on Sundays until April. The building remains open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The outdoor areas are open sunrise to sunset seven days a week.

Most Linn County Offices Closed for Veterans Day Most Linn County governmental offices will be closed Friday, Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day. Regular business hours resume on Monday, Nov. 14. The following services will continue to operate:
- Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services
- Mental Health Access Center
- Linn County LIFTS will be running reduced routes in Cedar Rapids (no rural service).
- The Sheriff’s Office will be closed; however, continuous operations will be available for routine and emergency responses, including the Patrol Division, Communications Division and the Correctional Center. In an emergency, always dial 911.

Board of Supervisors Meeting Recap The following is a recap from the Linn County Board of Supervisors meetings the week of October 28-November 4, 2022. The Board of Supervisors:
- Met with and received updates from the following elected official: Attorney Nick Maybanks, Auditor Joel Miller, Recorder Joan McCalmant, Sheriff Brian Gardner, and Treasurer Sharon Gonzalez
- Held a public hearing and first and second consideration for rezoning case JR22-0007, request of Carrie and Nathan Kellogg, owner and petitioner, to rezone 12.73 acres located in 3600 Block of N Center Point Rd from RR1 (Rural Residential 1-Acre) zoning district to the AG (Agricultural) zoning district
- Approved a resolution opposing Public Measure 1 on the November 8, 2022, general election ballot
- Approved a resolution allowing Regis Middle School to use the Linn County Courthouse on Saturday, November 5to conduct a mock trial noting that all documentation has been collected and affected departments and agencies have reviewed and recommended proper safeguards
- Approved a contract between CivicPlus and Linn County for CivicClerk agenda management software effective February 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023, in the amount of $11,225
- Approved a contract agreement LPHS_LCCS_2023 between Linn County Board of Health and Linn County Community Services – Home Health for the term of July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 in the amount of $216,701 for Home Health services
- Approved purchase order for $477,832.07 to Communications Engineering Company for the Capital Improvement Project camera/technology upgrade for the Correctional Center
- Approved purchase order for $7,554 to Patten Equipment for a trailer for Facilities
- Awarded bid and approved purchase order for various road signs to Newman Signs INC in the amount of $10,873.73 for the Secondary Road Department
- Approved purchase order in the amount of $9,304.75 to The Home Depot for 50 cots for the homeless shelter
