Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Meetings Begin


The Board of Supervisors began holding fiscal year 2024 budget meetings with County departments this week. Linn County’s FY24 budget will be developed over the next two months during a series of more than 20 public meetings between the Linn County Board of Supervisors, other Linn County elected officials, and department heads. All budget meetings are public meetings. The meeting schedule for the FY24 budget process is available on Linn County’s website, although dates and times on the review calendar are subject to change. Linn County Public Health Releases Annual Report


The Linn County Board of Health released the Linn County Public Health fiscal year 2022 annual report. Highlights include a $1.25 million grant to address youth violence, creating a health equity program manager position, achieving national reaccreditation, and finalizing the Community Health Assessment. Board of Supervisors Meeting Recap


The following is a recap from the Linn County Board of Supervisors meetings the week of Nov. 23-Dec. 2, 2022. The Board of Supervisors: 
  • Approved a motion to order recount of votes for State House Representative District 73 election held on Nov. 8, 2022, pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 50.48(1a)
  • Discussed an agreement between Linn County and Emergent Architecture for the development of drawings and specifications for the Jean Oxley Public Service Center Treasurer’s Office glazing: physical protection project
  • Authorized Chair to sign an agreement for a stipulated sum of $18,777 with Emergent Architecture for the development of drawings and specifications for the Jean Oxley Public Service Center Treasurer’s Office Glazing: Physical Protection Project
  • Approved a resolution for a 28E agreement between Linn County and the City of Central City for Rental Housing and Property Maintenance Inspection services
  • Approved a resolution abating property taxes determined impractical to collect
  • Authorized Chair to sign a 28E agreement with the City of Cedar Rapids for a construction project to repair and overlay with hot mix asphalt on shared portions of Ushers Ferry Road from 42nd Street NE to Oak Creek Drive NE in the amount of $258,200 as Linn County’s portion.
  • Approved a resolution for a final plat for Rolling Hill Farms First Addition
  • Held a public hearing on the proposed plans, specifications, Form of Contract, and Estimated Total Cost for the Linn County Secondary Road District 1 Shop Building – Phase 2 Project
  • Approved a resolution to reject all bids for the Linn County Secondary Road District 1 Shop Building – Phase 2 Project
  • Reviewed proposed fiscal year 2024 budgets for the following departments: Information Technology, Planning & Development, and Juvenile Justice
