Linn County Now Accepting Grant Applications to Increase Food Security
The Linn County Food Systems Council is now accepting grant applications from local organizations for its Food Access, Resiliency, and Equity (FARE) Grant Program. The FARE Grant Program is a Linn County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funded project administered by the Linn County Food Systems Council to replace lost public sector revenue in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Linn County Board of Supervisors allocated $250,000 in ARPA funding to support local food initiatives to increase food security. The funding will be awarded through multiple grant cycles. Linn County Board of Supervisors Awards $80,000 in Witwer Trust Grants
The Linn County Board of Supervisors has awarded $80,000 in grants from the Linn County Board of Supervisors Witwer Trust Fund to 24 non-profit organizations whose work benefits Linn County residents. The recipients were selected through an annual competitive grant process that began in November. The Board of Supervisors received more than $298,000 in grant requests with $80,000 in available funds.

Linn County Releases FY22 Annual Report
Linn County has released its fiscal year 2022 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). The report is part of Linn County’s ongoing commitment to keep residents informed about how taxpayer dollars are used to fund programs and services in an easy-to-read format.
In addition to providing easy to understand financial information, the report demonstrates the vital role of county government by highlighting some of Linn County’s notable accomplishments and challenges of the past year. Linn County Offices Closed for New Year’s Holidays
Linn County governmental offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 30; and Monday, Jan. 2 for the New Year’s holidays.
The following services will continue to operate: - Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services
- Mental Health Access Center
- Linn County LIFTS will be running reduced routes on Dec. 23 and Dec. 30.
- The Sheriff’s Office will be closed; however, continuous operations will be available for routine and emergency responses. This includes the Patrol Division, Communications Division and the Correctional Center. In an emergency, always dial 911.
Vehicle registrations can be renewed online at any time at www.iowataxandtags.org.

Linn County Public Health Releases Annual Report
Linn County Public Health recently released their fiscal year 2022 annual report. Highlights from the report include: - Established the position of Health Equity Program Manager.
- Awarded $1.25 million over five years from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to address youth violence in Linn County through the Preventing Violence Among Young Lives (PREVAYL) grant.
- Achieved reaccreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB).
- Completed 7,799 on-site clinic visits, conducted 36,182 communicable disease investigations, administered 7,240 immunizations to 3,600 individuals, including 2,364 COVID-19 vaccinations.
- Completed initial health exams for 300 Afghan nationals newly arriving in Eastern Iowa as part of Operation Allies Welcome (OAW).

Newly Elected Officials Sworn In to OfficeThis month, five newly elected officials and their deputies took ceremonial oaths of office. The elected officials include: - Ben Rogers - Linn County Supervisor, District 2
- Brent Oleson - Linn County Treasurer
- Carolyn Siebrecht - Linn County Recorder
- Kirsten Running-Marquardt - Linn County Supervisor, District 1
- Nick Maybanks - Linn County Attorney
In compliance with State code, the official oaths of office must be completed prior to noon on Jan. 2, 2023. The elected officials will officially take office starting Jan. 1, 2023.

Linn County Assessor’s Office Announces New Office Hours
The Linn County Assessor’s Office announces new office hours beginning Dec. 27, 2022. The Assessor’s Office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. These new hours will continue in 2023.
The Linn County Assessor’s Office assesses real property in Linn County, Iowa, with the exception of property in Cedar Rapids.
