Linn County Conservation would like your input on the education programs they hold at Wickiup Hill and other locations throughout the county. The naturalists with Linn County Conservation provide educational programming for all ages throughout the year. Most programs and events occur onsite at the Wickiup Hill Learning Center, but many are held in different locations within the region. Whether you are a frequent visitor to the Learning Center and our outdoor areas (including county parks), or haven't participated in any past programs, we encourage you to answer a few short questions. Board of Supervisors Meeting RecapThe following is a recap from the Linn County Board of Supervisors meetings the week of Feb. 3-10, 2023. The Board of Supervisors: - Met with and received updates from the following elected officials: Attorney Nick Maybanks, Recorder Carolyn Siebrecht and Treasurer Brent Oleson
- Held a joint meeting with the Linn County Farm Bureau
- Received an update from the Lower Cedar Watershed Management and Heartland Co-op
- Held third and final consideration of ordinance amendment, rezoning case JR23-0001, request of Linn County Board of Supervisors, owner, and Linn County Planning & Development, petitioner, to rezone approximately 7.58 acres located at 622 Dows Rd, from the PUD-USR (Planned Unit Development Overlay – Urban Services Residential) zoning district to the USR (Urban Services Residential) zoning district. This project is a land swap that will secure a trail easement for Linn County and reduce the cost of the trail by reducing the need for trail bridges to cross a creek.
- Discussed fiscal year 2024 SF 634 resolution on total maximum property tax dollars, authorized publication of Max Levy Notice, and set a public hearing for March 1, 2023 at 10 a.m.
- Approved a resolution establishing surface treatment costs for seal coat and dust control palliatives for 2023
- Approved a resolution accepting work covering the Priority #3 Linn County Facilities Derecho Repairs Project
- Signed a 28E agreement with the City of Cedar Rapids for a hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay project on Beverly Road from just east of Hwy 151 to the concrete pavement near Edgewood Road
- Signed a 28E agreement with the City of Fairfax for a hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay project on Beverly Road from just east of Hwy 151 to the concrete pavement near Edgewood Road
- Authorized Chair to sign an amended contract between Iowa Department of Public Health and Linn County Community Services for HIV Client Services Program for the contract period April 1, 2022. through March 31, 2023. This contract is amended to adjust line-item funding in Article IX - Budget. There is no change in the contract amount and the available funding remains $998,223.
- Authorized Chair to sign the following American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) subaward agreements:
- LBA Foundation for the CR Dreams Expansion Project in the amount of $35,450
- LBA Foundation for the Refugee & Immigrant Center Youth Navigator in the amount of $111,435
- Linn County Community Action Fund for the Youth Leadership Fund – Fellowship Program in the amount of $66,700
- Refugee & Immigrant Association for the Together We Can Initiative in the amount of $10,000
