Celebrating Two Years of the Mental Health Access CenterThe Linn County Mental Health Access Center is celebrating its two-year anniversary. In the past two years, Access Center staff has conducted more than 2,000 triages and consultations with patients in crisis. Access Center Director Erin Foster took time to reflect on the Center’s beginnings and looks forward to the future in a guest blog post in the Linn County Connection.

Transit Driver Appreciation DayMarch 18 was Transit Driver Appreciation Day. Thank you Linn County LIFTS drivers for providing safe and efficient transit services to Linn County residents! LIFTS is a public transit service providing door-to-door rides for eligible senior citizens and people with disabilities in the metro area of Cedar Rapids, Marion, and Hiawatha. LIFTS also provides public transportation to all Linn County residents outside the metro area. Learn more about LIFTS.

Public Hearing on Maximum Property Tax Levy for Fiscal Year 2024The Linn County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on March 29, 2023, at 10 a.m. to set the total maximum property tax levy for the fiscal year 2024 budget. The public hearing will be held at the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids. At the public hearing, any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of, the proposed tax levy. After adopting the proposed tax levy, the Board of Supervisors will publish notice and hold a final public hearing to adopt Linn County’s FY24 budget.

Board of Supervisors Meeting RecapThe following is a recap from the Linn County Board of Supervisors meetings the week of March 20-24, 2023. The Board of Supervisors: - Met with and received updates from the following departments: Communications, Planning & Development, Purchasing, and Risk Management
- Received a presentation on the Linn County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system standards and action plan
- Approved a letter to Honorable Ashley Hinson in support of a $2.5 million Community Project Funding grant in support of a centralized aircraft deicing pad and a snow removal equipment building at the Eastern Iowa Airport retroactive to March 15, 2023, signed by Supervisor, Ben Rogers
- Held a public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated total cost for the Linn County Treasurer’s Office Glazing and Millwork Project
- Approved a resolution granting final approval and confirming the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated total cost for the Linn County Treasurer’s Office Glazing and Millwork Project
- Opened and announced bids for the Linn County Treasurer’s Office Glazing and Millwork Project and referred bids to Linn County staff and the project architect for review and tabulation
- Approved a resolution to award contract for project M-PAVEMENT MARKINGS (23), pavement markings at various locations throughout Linn County, to Advanced Traffic Control, Inc., in the amount of $233,690
- Approved a resolution for a residential parcel split for Pearson Family Addition, case JPS22-0021
- Authorized Chair to sign an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) subaward agreement between Linn County and the City of Springville for the Springville Water Meter Radio Replacements Project in the amount of $110,948
- Authorized Chair to sign an amendment to the Local Public Health Services contract LPHS-LCCS-2023 adding a budget line with no change in funds or effective date of the original contract
- Authorized Chair to sign signature authorization for CEO change form for Community Development Block Grant funding
- Approved a resolution adopting required policies for Community Development Block Grant funding
- Approved a resolution adopting a policy prohibiting the use of excessive force for the Community Development Block Grant Program
- Authorized Chair to sign a form authorizing alternate signatories for Section 106 Compliance for Community Development Block Grant funding
- Authorized Chair to sign an acknowledgment of environmental review requirements for Community Development Block Grant funding
- Approved a resolution awarding contract for the Linn County Treasurer’s Office Glazing and Millwork Project
