Lieutenant Chad Shover started his career with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff in 2000. He worked in the Correctional Center as a Deputy Sheriff for 5 years and then transferred to the Patrol Division. After working in the Patrol Division for 5 years, he transferred to the Civil Division where he worked for 7 years. He was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2017 and assigned to the Correctional Center. He worked as a Sergeant for 3 years before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and is currently assigned to the Jail Division as a Jail Commander.
Chad has been a member of the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) for 17 years. He is an instructor of many specialties including Range, ALICE, ALERRT, Blue Courage, Less Lethal, OC and Chemical Munitions. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Kirkwood Community College in 2017. He has attended numerous other trainings including FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership, Command Leadership and Executive Leadership. He also received his Certified Credible Leader certification from the National Command & Staff College in 2019.
