Lieutenant Dave Beuter grew up in the Northern part of Linn County and is a graduate of North Linn Community High School. Dave attended the Mercy/St Lukes EMS Education Program and Kirkwood Community College to attain his Paramedic Certification before being hired by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. While employed by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office he earned his Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice through the University of Phoenix. He has also completed all four phases of the Institute for Credible Leadership Development.
Lt. Beuter began his career with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office in June of 1998 in the Correctional Center as a Deputy for 4 years before transferring to the Patrol Division. While working in both the Correctional Center and Patrol Division he would also cover shifts for Rescue 57. He was in the Patrol Division for 6 years and returned to the Correctional Center when he was promoted to a Sergeant in May of 2008. In March of 2010, Dave was transferred to the Criminal Division and worked as a Detective for over 10 years. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in August of 2020 and was assigned as the Criminal Division Commander.
